New iPhone SE 2 price must be very low to remain practical in 2020

When the iPhone SE was released in 2016, it was fresh air for many phone fans. The "cheap phone" market is in a tragic state because you can't afford to buy a lot of great phones without spending money, but Apple has launched a phone that offers significant features at a relatively low price.

Many hope Apple will repeat this with the iPhone SE 2 expected to launch in March 2020, but due to recent price leaks, we are concerned that Apple will not be able to replicate the success of the iPhone SE.

According to the latest leaked information, the iPhone SE 2 will be priced at $ 399, and due to Apple's pricing practices, we expect prices in the UK and Australia to be £ 379 and $ 679, respectively.

Of course, this means it costs exactly the same as its predecessor, but we think Apple needs to actively reduce costs to stay competitive in 2020, and one of the reasons is.

Back when the iPhone SE was launched, there were few cheap phones on the market that could buy good products, so you usually have to spend a lot of money to get a decent smartphone. That's why the iPhone SE is so popular-it sits almost alone at the intersection between "affordable" and "good".

But four years have passed since then, and the cheap phone market is completely different. Now you get great Moto G phones, Redmi phones, and a variety of "lite" devices, each with outstanding features and specifications, and more expensive than the iPhone SE launch cost.

As a result, the Apple iPhone SE 2 will enter a different market than its predecessor, full of impressive devices and affordable phones that can easily rival the iPhone SE 2.

We expect the new Apple phone to be similar to the iPhone 8, which may not be as good as most phones that sell for $ 399 / £ 379 / $ 679.

If Apple does launch its new iPhone at such a price, it will become a moderately priced phone that appears to have fewer features than its competitors.

It is only expected to have a rear camera, two less than the Moto G8 Plus at £ 239 / Aus $ 499 (about $ 310), and a 4.7-inch screen, which is much smaller than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T at 6.3 inches. It costs £ 169.99 (approximately $ 220, AU $ 320).

As a result, the iPhone SE 2 may be more expensive than its competitors and have fewer features. So the only potential customers that could be won by it are those who will definitely work on iOS through Android-but even they have better options.

At the time of writing, the new iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 is more affordable than the stated iPhone SE 2 and, if you are willing to buy a used or refurbished phone, you can buy or even update the iPhone at an affordable price. These devices are still usable and have almost no difference from the iPhone 8, so there is no reason to buy an iPhone SE 2 other than the newer chipset.

So whether you're looking for a cheap new smartphone or an Apple fan who wants to save money on buying a new phone, there's no reason to compare the iPhone SE 2 with a competitor's device-if Apple follows leaked prices and expected specifications .

If it does release to the expected specifications, then the only way the new iPhone SE 2 will be able to replicate the popularity of the iPhone SE is to sell it at an ultra-cheap price-what we call a price below $ 200 / £ 200 / $ 500.

At this price or lower, the iPhone SE 2 will become a competitive product that many people flock to. However, if Apple's price is higher than that, it will be difficult to recommend the new "moderately priced" iPhone among many of today's competitors.

Is foldable smartphones going to be the future

Samsung is making a giant phone that folds in half and sells for $1,770. The Galaxy F is said to be released in March next year, and the company plans to sell one million of them in 2019. The phone is basically a tablet that can be folded into a mobile phone, which is said to be able to open, as "snap" as the previous flip phone. but why? Cable TV's Brian Barrett traces the history of collapsible smartphone technology in a weekend report, saying: "These scenes are tempting: you can keep your smartphone in single-screen mode on the way to the subway. Check in on Twitter and then expand it. Once you get on the train and read the New York Times, you can see the size of the tablet. This attraction is very obvious and people wonder why it took so long." Is that kind of scene really tempting? Is the attraction obvious enough? Maybe I missed something here, but it seems that at best it is just a possible thing, I won't scream. If I see a mobile phone folded in...
