In the long run, the iPhone 5G will look like Apple’s most expensive iPhone.

Kuo believes that the cost of the 5G iPhone chipset will increase by 35%. Although this does not mean that retail prices will inevitably rise by the same amount, Apple is unlikely to bear this cost increase.

However, this is not the only upgrade, because in order to adapt to 5G technology, the design still needs to make some big changes - this may mean that the 5G iPhone looks very different from the previous Apple phone. According to Guo, the construction cost of the metal frame of the equipment will increase by 50%-60%, while the manufacturing cost of the glass casing will increase by 40%-50%.

So while the price of the iPhone 11 is $699/729/$1,199, Kuy estimates that if Apple passes most or all of this increase to consumers, the price of the next iPhone might be $1,200. / 1,100 pounds / 1,800 Australian dollars.

These are of course highly speculative numbers at the moment - we don't know that the price we expect will be iPhone 12 below 5G. However, most of the 5G phones we've seen are more expensive than their 4G phones - the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G and the Oppo Reno 5G are the same as the 4G version, but offer 5G connectivity and are more expensive.
