As part of Sony's grand plan (designing the Xperia series after S), the latest Sony phones are obsessed with the famous transparent strips. This alone makes the phone look as stylish and future as the first Sony Xperia phone.
Of the two phones, the Xperia U is on the small side (actual size is 112 x 54 x 12mm). The Xperia Sola is slightly larger (but thinner) and measures 116 x 59 x 9.9mm. Surprisingly, the Xperia U weighs 110 grams more than the Xperia Sola. It weighs only 107 grams. Now, not only is the latter slimmer, it is also lighter than the compact Xperia U.
The Xperia U features a 3.5-inch LED-backlit LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels, while the Xperia Sola features a 3.7-inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. They all have the same screen resolution, but the Xperia Sola's screen is bigger than its brother.
The bottom cover of the Xperia U is interchangeable while the other is fixed. You can personalize this phone according to your mood. Even the screen color of the phone can be changed. This may be the magic weapon for mobile phones. On the other hand, Xperia Sola has Sony's latest Floating Touch technology. This way, you can browse your phone's browser without even touching your phone screen. Sounds cool? so cool! But the only downside is that the feature is limited to the phone's browser. Well, Sony promises to try to make this feature work outside of the phone's browser.
Both phones come with a resolution of 5 megapixels with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and LED flash. They all come with Android Gingerbread. But Sony is committed to upgrading to the latest Android Iteration ice cream sandwiches in the near future.
The Sony Xperia U is available now, and the Sony Xperia Sola is expected to be available in the second quarter of this year.
