Is Samsung planning for two more foldable phones

A new report says Samsung is developing two new foldable phones as a follow-on to its recently launched Galaxy Fold smartphone.

In terms of folding mechanism, these two devices are very different from the former device.

Unlike the Galaxy Fold, the Galaxy Fold has a small screen on one side and a large screen from the inside. Samsung plans to borrow the design of its competitor Huawei for one of its new phones.

Huawei's Mate X is deployed from a single screen and wrapped outside the device when folded.

The second new folding phone will feature a flip-top device that folds vertically, possibly similar to the upcoming Motorola Razr.

The rumors about the new foldable phone come from sources quoted by Bloomberg, who claim to be familiar with the plan of the Korean tech giant.

Although smartphone manufacturers have proved this to be a popular trend at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, ​​it is unclear how much consumer demand for folding phones.

The Galaxy Fold is priced at £2,000 but has not yet been released, and no other company engaged in the technology has sold or booked data. According to reports, Samsung plans to build at least 1 million foldable phones in 2019.

Manufacturers hope that innovative new designs will help reinvigorate the sluggish smartphone market, with global sales falling in the past two years.

A new report from International Data Corporation (IDC) predicts that global smartphone shipments will decline for the third consecutive year in 2019.

Samsung's two new foldable phones are expected to be available later this year or early 2020, and the prototypes already use Mate X-style phones.
